I can send these crawlers anywhere in Canada with success. It is however, more difficult the further away from southern Ontario that you are, but it can be done. Before they are sent I will have to make sure that you are ready to house them. It is a waste of time to be asked to send another starter colony when you were not prepared to support the first one. I drive most areas around southern Ontario regularly and have friends in Eastern Ontario and London Windor area so a drive could be possible. Family is from Red Lake and have a sister out west so could have options for flying periodically as well.

Price

I would much rather send bugs for a trade for skulls and have done this many times in the past. This is especially effective when someone is living in another region of Canada then myself. If no trade can be arranged, the bugs will be $300 for approximately 500 beetle in the starter colony plus the shipment cost. This may seem expensive but I do prefer adding to my collection over monetary gain and didn’t set out in this hobby to sell bugs. These beetles will be all sizes and phases of their lives so you can trust that your colony will start smoothly.

Things to Remember

  1. This starter colony will not be able to clean larger skulls effectively for quite some time. They will need to be fed and grown to the point of cleaning larger skulls.

  2. These beetles smell! If they are in your garage, it and everything in it may smell. Best kept outside however, moisture and temp become a problem.

  3. You need a constant food supply for these bugs. If you are looking into bugs for one or two skulls, this is not a viable option. Send you heads to someone who cleans them or take part in one of the other options for de-fleshing and cleaning a skull.

  4. Outline what your beetle colony is going to live in to start and how you have ensured that they will survive.

  5. Describe what you will be feeding the colony and that you understand that this colony will not be ready to clean large skulls and that they need constant food supplies in order to be worthwhile.

  6. Any Money transfer will be by email money transfer before shipment of the bugs. It will be for the bugs and the added shipment cost.
